FUN TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES.

Team building is a management technique that enables employees to evolve in a cohesive unit. Why team building? Well, team building is especially important to an organization as it develops teamwork competencies such as communication, compromise, and collective reasoning. Team building enables individuals to know one another- their strengths, weaknesses, and interest and get to know one’s perspectives on ongoing issues and trends. Aside from that, team building also serves as a reminder to employees that work is not always about them but as a group. It fosters the idea of group success rather than individual and brings about the element of teamwork and how it is fundamental for the success of the organization.

This article talks about at least 5 fun team building activities employees can partake in to reduce the workplace’s monotony.

  1. Board games

Indoor activities such as Jenga, Ludo, and Monopoly are some of the many board games employees can take part in to break the monotony at the workplace. One may come up with different teams let’s say teams blue, red, yellow, and green which competes against each other. To make the games interesting, the leader can quote a prize to whoever will win the games. This tends to enhance inclusion and promote morale as there will be more teamwork to ensure they go home with the prize.

  1. Volunteer work

The employees may plan a day off where they take time to volunteer in the surrounding areas of their workplace. In cases where they are passionate about a certain cause for example providing relief food to some of the hunger-stricken areas, they may decide to contribute whatever they have and even visit the places of need.

  1. Scavenger hunt.

A scavenger hunt involves making a list of items to be found and asking the participants to gather and look for the items on the list. There may be prizes to be won by the group that collects all the items within a stipulated amount of time depending on the rules of the game. This outdoor game enables employees to display their problem-solving skills and also enhances critical thinking among the team members.

  1. Zip lining

Zip lining is another activity to get your employees out of the office. Employees get to test their adrenaline and boost their confidence with this adventure. Getting to the zip-lining sites involves traveling to the spot which means employees get to go on road trips. What better way to unwind and let loose than a simple road trip? which will in turn create bonds among the employees.

  1. Employee  Culture Day.

Every workplace has individuals from different cultures and diversities which could be a great opportunity for them to get to show off their culture at the workplace. Employees can be asked to report in their traditional attire to work, or even organize cultural meals and recite their famous cultural stories. This fosters harmony, and respect for different cultures and improves reporting morale as employees will be able to break off from the normal official attire.
